Your First Choice Class:

Most families get their first choice of classes, especially if they register early. We take families in the order that they register with payment. Although we try very hard to give you your first choice in classes, we cannot always do it. This is because we cannot run classes under 6 children, or over 12 children. It is important to put a second choice that you could attend, if your first choice is not available. If your first choice is unavailable by the end of registration, then we can hold your other choice(s) for you, until we know for sure. And you will be on the wait list for your first choice, should it become available. Again, most of you will get your first choice of class, but we cannot guarantee it. If you register for a class, with first and second choice, and we cannot accommodate either of your choices, then we will refund in full, of course.

Refunds, Cancellations and Class Switches:

-For anyone wishing to cancel their enrollment up to 2 days before a semester's scheduled classes start, we refund the tuition paid, minus a cancellation fee of $25;
-After the first scheduled class (regardless of whether the canceling family attends), we charge a $50 cancellation fee.
-After the 2nd scheduled class (regardless of whether the canceling family attends), we charge half the total tuition paid as a cancellation fee.
-After the 3rd class, we do not give refunds (regardless of whether the canceling family has attended).
-In all cancel cases, there is also a materials fee, if songbook and CDs were issued, unless these materials are returned UNUSED, and in mint condition.
Under exceptional circumstances, we may choose to give a PARTIAL credit for a family canceling at any point during the semester, providing that they give notice that they are doing so in a timely manner. This partial credit is under Lockmusic's discretion, and takes into account the rental fees, service fees, and teacher fees which cannot be recouped.

If, after a person has registered and paid, they wish to SWITCH their class time/day/location, we will do so at Lockmusic's discretion, and only if there is availability in the desired class.
The family will be charged a switching fee of $15 if switching any time after two days before the semester starts.

Makeups:

We offer up to 2 makeups per semester per child for missed classes, based on availability of space in any one of our classes at any of our Lockmusic locations. These makeups do NOT carry over from one semester to another.
To schedule makeups (or cancel them), you will use a special makeups scheduler online, and it must be done at least 2 days in advance of the make up class. Directions as to how to use this online scheduler are provided at the beginning of each semester.
Remember that makeups are a *courtesy* we provide, but we cannot guarantee that a desired makeup will be available. So we recommend that the makeup be scheduled as soon as possible after a missed class, or before a class which you KNOW you are going to miss. (There will be a space on the makeup scheduler for you to let us know when you missed, or when you will miss, so that we can open up another make up slot for the future date you will be absent.) If you miss your scheduled makeup class, and you have not canceled it (two days in advance), it counts as one of your allotted 2 makeups.

Class cancellations, emergencies, substitute teachers, rescheduled classes

If there is an emergency due to weather or some other A.O.G., and a class must be canceled, we will post it on the voicemail (516-616-3636) at least one hour before class is scheduled. We will also try to post it on our website. We will make every attempt to reschedule this missed class, if it is at all possible (generally on a break period, or after the semester was scheduled to end, on the same day of the week as the canceled class.)
If a teacher cannot make his/her scheduled class, for whatever reason, we will make every attempt to send a substitute (a trained Music Together®® teacher) to teach the class.  If a substitute is not possible, we will cancel the class, and make every attempt to reschedule the class. We will notify everyone in the class about this.
We reserve the right to discontinue a teacher at any time, and to send a substitute teacher (trained in Music Together®) at any time.

Guests (other adults; older siblings, out of town guests, etc.):

Any child may be accompanied by more than one adult, as long as the adults PARTICIPATE IN THE MUSICAL ACTIVITIES FULLY, TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY. Our mixed-age program welcomes children ages birth through 4+ to register for classes. Any child attending class on a regular basis must be registered for class. Older siblings may visit once per semester, at no charge, but it must be prearranged through the Director of Lockmusic.
Please DO NOT walk in with an unregistered child without first getting permission by the director (not the teacher)
. If unregistered siblings have to be brought more than once during a semester, a fee will be charged, and it must be pre-arranged through the director of Lockmusic.
If other guest children are coming, it should be cleared through the director, and there will be a fee as well.

Class Rules:

All adults participate in all our activities, to the best of their ability during class time, so that the focus is on music and movement.
Shoes off in all our locations (bare feet OK, socks OK, slippers OK), unless permission is otherwise given by the teacher.
Strollers and carriages are not to be wheeled into the dance area, but can be left in the lobby area. Children do what they want, as long as it is safe, and not overly distracting. They can, and do wander about, but NO RUNNING (we need the caregivers' help in enforcing this).
At various points, the teacher requests that all children sit - for example, during certain instrument play. PLEASE MAKE sure your child sits during these times, for her/his own safety, and that of the other children.
The director and teacher are NOT responsible for keeping your child safe, beyond making the environment as safe as possible:
The parent or caregiver is SOLELY responsible for the child's safety at all times.
Caregivers must clean any messes that are left by their child before leaving, anywhere in the studio, bathroom or lobby.

No beverages consumed in the studio area, except: Bottles are OK, breast feeding is OK.   Sippie cups are NOT OK!
There is a STRICT "NO FOOD" policy throughout the entire space, including the lobby
. If you want to give your child food, this MUST be done outside of the entire building..
If your child is creating a big distraction, the teacher may ask the parent to take him/her out of the room until they calm down. Please be sensitive to this need.
Photos and videos:
Please understand that
this program DEPENDS on the musical participation of the adults in the room.  If an adult is busy taking pictures or videos, they cannot be actively participating in the class!  PERMISSION must be given by the director of Lockmusic if an adult wants to take photos or videos. These must be taken only at the point the director or teacher prescribes, and only for a maximum of 3 minutes at a time. The adult should not be obtrusive, and should participate as much as possible in the music other than at this time. Talking is kept to a minimum
Any damage done to the area and its contents by the parent, caregiver, or child is the parent's or legal guardian's responsibility to remedy.
If you need to give your child a drink, please take them out of the studio area.
